South-East Cornwall

Set in the "Forgotten Corner" of Cornwall, overlooking Plymouth Sound, we are ideally placed as a centre for enjoying Cornwall and Devon.

Kingsand and Cawsand - It would take most of the day to explore these untouched seafaring and smuggling villages, boasting a terrific selection of pubs and eateries with food to suit all tastes. The beaches are clean and feature in “The Good Beach Guide”.

Wander the narrow streets and discover their history. Some buildings date back to medieval times, including Devon-Corn, the house that straddles the stream that once marked the boundary between the Saxons and the Celts (more recently the English and the Cornish!)

Take the time to explore the ancient volcanic platform and rock pools by the Old Pilchard cellars on Kingsand Beach.

Outstanding Natural Beauty - You don't have to go far to fill your day. Stay on the Peninsula, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - possibly starting with a stroll around "…one of the finest country parks in England…" at Mount Edgcumbe.

Close by the hotel is the Cornish Coastal Path. Starting at Cremyll and passing through the park and the villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, out to Penlee Point and Rame Head and along to the cliff tops of Whitsand Bay. Wade through the butterflies, or spot the peregrines that nest on the cliffs by the ancient monk's chapel at Rame. From Rame Head, you can often see as far west as Lizard Point.

If you are feeling energetic, then Wringford is the ideal launch pad to visit the best of Devon & Cornwall’s attractions - the award winning Dobwalls Railroad Theme Park, the Shire Horse Centre, Trethorne Leisure Farm, Poldark Mines. There is Morwellham Quay (a living museum reconstruction of an old river port and mine workings, from the days when Cornwall was at the heart of the industrial world!), together with The Tamar Donkey park, and the finest National Trust properties. Or perhaps just spend a lazy day on one of the fine sandy beaches, walk through the villages and find a pub for lunch. Continue out to the 11th Century Monks chapel at Rame head overlooking the sparkling waters of Whitsand Bay - watch the Peregrines swoop down the cliffs and maybe see a school of Porpoises or spot a shark out at sea.
